Orphans and Orphanages of the World

Due to poverty and hunger, HIV/AIDS, Malaria, and other diseases and natural disasters, there are many  orphaned and abandoned children.  Children, especially the very young, need someone to provide them with food, clothes, and an education to reduce their risk of getting one of the diseases that cause so much death.  Unfortunately there are not enough families that are willing or able to take in all the orphaned children in the world and so many orphans are abandoned out on the street to care for themselves.  Since these orphaned and abandoned children can not care for themselves they need us to provide for them so that they can hope for a better future.  That is why we need more orphanages.  These orphanages can not exist without sponsors like you.

This website features organizations that help orphaned and abandoned children. If you are affiliated with an orphanage and would like your orphanage featured on this site click list orphanages.  We mainly have information on African orphanages in Kenya and Uganda, but We are featuring more orphanages from around the world each month.  Poverty and hunger is a growing problem around the World and it hits orphaned and abandoned children especially hard.

Orphanage organizations that have been around for a while have the money to build nice websites to let people know about the work they are doing for orphans and orphanages.  On the other hand there are many orphanages that do not have the money and/or the ability to make a website.  Many of these orphanages start when a family can not turn away the orphaned and abandoned children that come to their home begging for food and a space on the floor to sleep.  We want to help these small orphanages get a start and at the same time not forget the larger orphanages.  An orphanage is welcome to use their page on this site for their website or we can link their www.orphanages.ws page to their own site.

African Orphanages  

African Orphanages are full and many African orphans are abandoned when their parents die of diseases like HIV/AIDS and Malaria.  Poverty and hunger is a daily problem for these African orphans.  This month we are featuring two organizations that take care of African orphaned and abandoned children.

Hearth to Hearth Ministries is helping over 500 African orphans (most of them from the diseases of HIV/AIDS and Malaria) with five orphanages in Kenya and Uganda plus widows' programs in Uganda.  Spotlight on Orphans newsletter tells of the work that Hearth to Hearth Ministries is doing for African orphans who's parents have died from the diseases of HIV/AIDS and Malaria. Asian Orphanages

Asian orphanages need sponsors to help Asian orphaned and abandoned children that are suffering from poverty and hunger.  Poverty and disease are a big problem in many Asian countries.  This month we are featuring one of the Asian orphanages.

Caribbean Orphanages 

Caribbean Orphanages?  When we think of the Caribbean, we think of the beautiful beaches, but let's not forget the Caribbean orphans and orphanages.  Sponsor an orphan from the Caribbean and help orphaned and abandoned children.

   Orphans’ International Helpline (OIH) ministering to the physical and spiritual needs of orphaned and abandoned children around the world.

European Orphanages

European orphanages are over crowded in some of the poverty stricken European countries.  Sponsor an orphan from Europe.  Volunteer to help orphaned and abandoned children.  Many Eastern European countries are still struggling with poverty and hunger.

North American Orphanages 

There are not many true American orphanages in North America, but there are many orphans that need help.  Even in North America there are children suffering from poverty and hunger.  We are featuring one organization this month that helps American orphans.

    SOS Children is the world’s largest orphan charity.  Save an orphan from poverty and hunger, and help them shape their own futures and share in the development of their communities.

South American Orphanages

There are many South American orphanages but we have only a few that have asked us to list them.  Sponsor an orphan from the Americas.  There are many South American Orphans suffering from poverty and hunger.  Sponsor an orphan and give them hope today.

Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers needed.  Many people have asked if we know of any orphanages that are in need of volunteers, so we are including the volunteer link above.  Volunteer to help orphaned and abandoned children.  When you see the poverty and hunger that these orphaned and abandoned children from poor countries suffer it will change how you view life.
