ACHIEVEMENTS
Having started the centre as a feeding centre with only ten children who were
identified due to malnutrition, we have since been engaged in sponsoring through
nursery, primary and secondary school. Over 300 children have been assisted in
one way or the other by Christ Cares Children's Centre. Some have gone through
skills training (carpentry, masonry, motor vehicle mechanics and driving.)
Currently we have: 2 girls in Secondary, 2 boys in training, 11 awaiting to get
sponsors so they can go to Colleges, 15 others are going through Primary
Education. We have purchased a 2-acre plot for construction of a rehabilitation centre
at Kiserian (pipeline)We continue to interact with children on the streets and have occasionally
fed and clothed them as well as the other needy children within the community. There is a remarkable improvement in those families who have continued to
relate with us spiritually. We have even put up some shelters for families.
EVANGELISM
This Ministry, being a Christian Ministry, we take time out in the slums to
share Christ with parents. It is the founder’s belief that many problems like
drunkenness, contribute to the negligence of the children but these problems are
solved when parents turn to Christ through salvation.
FINANCIAL DIFFICULTIES
Due to financial constraints we have not been able to take the children who
are completing schools for skills training or to colleges. We have therefore
only partly achieved our goals. Have also been using the Director’s premises as
the drop-in centre. There is a very urgent need to build an orphanage where the
children can be housed properly and be well taken care of. The Centre has
managed to acquire a piece of land where we hope to construct permanent
orphanage facilities, drill a borehole. We need to buy all the necessary
furniture, electricity, buy a project vehicle to take the children to Public
Schools, have recreation facilities, food and salaries for the workers. We have
a vision of housing at least 100 children.
