Child Care Foundation-Uganda (CCF) is an orphanage committed to assisting the underprivileged, abused and abandoned children in Uganda.
We provide support to orphans and other disadvantaged children who have been deprived of the basic options in life.
CCF was formed in light of the fact that over 10million children and adolescents in Uganda grow up in families struggling to survive on less than $1 a day. But no dollar measurement can convey the hardships of children who are malnourished, whose water is unsafe to drink, who miss school and who grow up without ever visiting the inside of a health facility.
Poverty and Aids have not only destroyed hopes and opportunities of the children in Uganda, but have also caused lasting damage to young minds. It was therefore due to this grim background that CCF was formed not only to help the poorest children survive in this predator world, but also to make greater efforts in meeting the challenges of protecting and harnessing their physical, emotional and intellectual potential.
Mission
Our mission is guided by the United Nations' Convention on the rights of the child and strives to establish children's rights as enduring ethical principles and international standards of behavior towards children.
Our mission is to ensure the social, economic and psychological protection of the most disadvantaged children who have been victimized by war, Aids, extreme poverty and all forms of violence and exploitation.
Vision
CCF's vision is a society where all children are given a chance to live to their full potential, with their rights and aspirations fulfilled.
What Makes Us Special? We target the unreachable: vulnerable children hailing from deep down the rural areas of Uganda are the ones we focus on, nurture and develop their inner talents.
Projects:
All our projects are designed towards the enhancement of wellbeing of the most disadvantaged children in Uganda. These include:-
Education:
The role of education in child development is so crucial because it not only equips children with skills, but it also offers them an opportunity to get out of misery and absolute poverty. We offer vocational education to school drop-outs and other vulnerable children whose parents cant afford school fees. Our orphanage in Kamuli village, Wakiso District, Uganda offers practical skills in Tailoring, Carpentry,, Creative Art, all of which are aimed at equipping children with skills for future self sustenance.
Relief/ Aid:
We believe in the spirit of humanitarianism as a way of helping a helpless society. We hence offer assistance to the children in form of clothing, blankets, caps, shoes, sandals, food, and lots of children’s items as a way of letting them know that some body out there, truly cares for them.
Counselling:
Children victimized by hunger, wars, domestic violence and poverty are usually traumatized psychologically. In this case we offer counseling and palliative care to as away of ''repairing'' their souls and as a means of restoring lost hope. We also us the art of Music and Dance to restore happiness to the hopeless souls.
Advocacy:
We strongly advocate for child rights, and we strongly condemn violnce against children, early marriages, corporal punishments, child soldiers, defilement and all forms of abuse and exploitation towards children. C.CF hence urges local governments to make strong laws against defilement , child labour and domestic violence in Uganda as a way of protecting the rights of children. We also network with other non governmental organisations in this cause.
Sports:
Our Sports programs in Kamuli village is notonly used for execercising young minds and bodies, but we use the science of sports to teach kids the virtues of team work, team spirit, resilience, hard work and determination. Our sports programs include, Girls Football aimed at developing women football at the grassroots, Junior Soccer Program for the boys, Flag Football – Our children were among the first to play American Football in Uganda, Netball, Volleyball and athletics.
Music , Dance and Drama:
We also offer music and Dance lessons to the vulnerable children not only to create a professional elite class of musical artists and dancers, but we also use the art of music to bring joy and happiness to the young souls. Our Children Dancing Troupe called Zavuga Drums focuses on teaching children African Traditional music, dances, and orchestra using traditional instruments such as the royal drums (mujaguzo), Adungu, Xylophone (madinda) ndingidi (guitar) and many more. The African dances practiced include, Bakisimba – Nankasa (waist dance), Runyege, Mwaga, and many more.
As the saying goes, those who dance together, eat together. We use the art of music The CCF volunteer program sends individuals, couples, and families to support the staff and children living at the CCF orphanage centre.
