especially those who were infected and effected by HIV/AIDS and a widows are
assisted by all means respectively as the vision of Pastor Peter Ndungu
Mwangi and the director of the group saw that the preaching without acting was
not enough. He proposed to start a prayer team to be praying for thee needs
and at the process seeking assistance to help in the project objects at the
time of commencing this project there were 40 orphaned and 10 widows in the
church who were in need.
v Langas estate is one of
the poorest and most rural areas located in northern side of Eldoret town
equidistant from Nakuru via Kakamega road in Rift valley. v Population of 30000 of 72% population live in one of the slums.25%of the residents
live in isolated farmhouses or in very rural settings. v The largest urban center
represents 38% of town population. v Langas does not have
economic prosperity due to poverty and famine. v Cash crops are maize and
wheat. v Highest rate of
unemployment in the town. v Most residents are brewers
and drunkards. v County entitlement
program: Temporary Aid for needy families (TANF) and general assistance (GA)
remains at constant enrolment levels. v Insufficient Public
transportation system. v Minimal vocational and job
training programs.
v Limited affordable,
quality housing units.
Women and women of child bearing
age
v Nearly two thirds (2/3)
are single mothers of 20 years and most of them are already dead due to
HIV/AIDS, leaving orphans behind. v The majority of AIDS cases
in women are caused by implants or heterosexual contact. v When HIV positive women
are primarily care takers, they often place their needs far below the needs of
their family. v HIV becomes a family issue
that imposes Social, Psychological, and economical burden that may trigger a
family crisis. v Women balance their need
for health care of their children, housing, food etc. v Disclosing HIV status in
rural areas in Langas may trigger discrimination. v Langas has the 3rd highest rate of prenatal transmission in the town v As for teenage pregnancies
–many of these teens do not obtain prenatal care thus causing a higher rate of
prenatal transmission. v The number of children
diagnosed with aids has not declined .as there is lack of women research
conducted on women as it relates to HIV.
MISSION: The L.W.G.C HIV
Services Planning Council is dedicated to the coordination and provision of
quality health and human services for people infected and affected by HIV/AIDS

describing the current epidemiology. v Clarify and define the
role of the fault community in ideas continuum of care and services. v Identify opportunity for
collaboration, reducing duplication and building capacity. v Develop specific goals,
timelines, measurable objective and implementation plans for future direction
of Langas HIV services Council.

for new personnel and medical update are sometimes lacking. v With detailed standards (L.W.G.C)
the providers will be more culturally competent. v The detailed standards
will also enhance the confidentiality of front line personnel. v Training for provider
agencies will be available
If more grants are written, more
HIV/AIDS dollars within the L.W.G.C will be spent thus increase the amount of
available services for PLWH.

Education to all children is the key to success and we must do all possible
and help them. We at Living Water Group Centre have established a
computer collage for disadvantaged children and orphans. We believe that
whatever we do we do it for good. Preaching to young ones is another
thing that our church does so that we can prepare tomorrows preachers and good
leaders. With your support we have reached where we are. Not
forgetting to feed the needy, God blesses the hand that gives.
