Dear friends & partners: Greetings in the powerful name
of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! Our sincere thanks and gratitude goes to
all of you for the generosity of prayer, financial and material support. It is
through your prayers and generous support that we are able to fulfill our
mission and obligations of ministering to the children here in Uganda. We always count it a great
privilege and honor to serve the orphans and most vulnerable disadvantaged
children and youth here in Uganda, where up to 3 million children have been
left orphans as a result of HIV/AIDS, war and other diseases. The Lord has
continued to show His faithfulness to us and we are pleased to update you so
that you may know how to pray better. I attach with this e-mail, a few photos
from our just concluded Children’s Discipleship Training Camp, held in Tororo.
Enjoy …!
OCA Children’s Camp in
Tororo OCA Children Discipleship
Training Camp was such a great success! A total of 500 children (orphans) took
part in the Children’s Discipleship Training Camp in Tororo town. Our
Volunteer teachers and caregivers did their very best to teach God’s word to
the children. The final day which was also the graduation day for those
children who successfully completed the training was Monday, July 16th,
2007. This day also served as the day we officially launched our OCA Tororo
office, in Tororo town. Special thanks and gratitude goes to OCA supporter
Stephanie Coleman, from Washington DC, for the donation of US$250, which
helped in completing the remaining required initial 6-months rent payments for
the OCA office space in Tororo. A visiting team of African
American Pastors and Leaders who also conducted training for pastors and
leaders on the “Role of the Church in Combating HIV/AIDS” also attended the
OCA Children’s Graduation Ceremony. The American team purchased scholastic
materials (books and pencils) that were given to each of the children as a
gift for successfully completing the camp and for their achievement in the
training. The visitors also provided refreshments for the children during the
graduation. This important day began with
praise and worship lead by OCA Children’s Choir, followed by presentations of
poems, memory verses, skits and special songs from the children and speeches
from different leaders including: Pastor Martin of Tororo Christian Centre,
which hosted the graduation, a representative from the visiting pastors from
US, and several community leaders. The most important moment of the day was
the giving of the certificates to all the children who completed the training
successfully. The children received certificates and gifts which included an
exercise book and a pencil. Everyone was happy! Thank you all for praying
and supporting us in this program.
The OCA Computer Project is still in Need of Funding for
setting up. The OCA Computer Skills
Training Program for disadvantaged children and youth and the Internet Café is
still in urgent need of funding for setting up, seven months since we received
the equipment from Australia. Funding is urgently needed for renting an
appropriate premise where the project will be set up in Kampala (and also in
Tororo) and for purchasing the necessary supplies, furniture and initial
internet connection and installation. We would appreciate your help towards
the setting up of this computer project.
