The Life and Water Development Group-Cameroon (LWDG-Cameroon), is a
not-for-profit organization that serves as a catalyst for better environment,
education, community development and health in Cameroon by transforming
individuals and communities through volunteer opportunities, project proposals,
grants writing, community initiatives process that empowers them to change
themselves and their communities for the better. LWDG-Cameroon unlocks the
potential of individuals, irrespective of their economic, social, or political
status, to create change in their communities. This change begins at a training
workshop where participants are taken through a step by step process that
motivates them to tackle various social issues using locally available
resources. Using this methodology, participants have always generated better
results, experienced projects focusing on topics such as increasing community
development programs, health, education, orphan children, women and girl child
issues, HIV/AIDS awareness, better care for orphans and vulnerable children,
child abuse, population and reproductive health and preventing malaria,
infectious diseases and clean water supply and sanitation.
LWDG-Cameroon
has since inception also operated a Communications For Better Health Programme
involving the the production and free construction and distribution of bio sand
filters to the villagers of Nkuv, Kumbo, health professionals working in the
rural areas and other target groups have also benefited from our programs. The
idea being to bring up-to-date information to the door-steps of these groups of
people who lack access to health, water, education information.
The objectives of LWDG-Cameroon are therefore to relieve suffering and
alleviate the poverty, reduce disease burden, especially among the
rural population of Cameroon. LWDG-Cameroon trains and empowers front-line
community youths, elders, women, in order to strengthen and develop and acquire
skills that will enable them take action for a better community.
LWDG-Cameroon
is seeking partnership with you through the implementation of collaborative
programmes in Cameroon. LWDG-Cameroon has so many projects proposals, which can
be e-mailed to you as soon as you request for them. We also have volunteer
opportunities in various communities around Cameroon. Our annual report can be
sent to you upon request.

Volunteer,
Nice writing to you from Life and Water Development Group-Cameroon. I would like
to introduce our NGO to you and our volunteer opportunities. You can visit our
website at: http://www.lwdgc-africa.org. We are also working with some orphanages, one
is in Kumbo under the care of Shisong General Hospital and we are looking for
volunteers to work with these children. They are about 30 orphanages between the
ages of 0-15, there is a set of triple twins there and twins (2). We also have
volunteer opportunities in different fields, health, community development,
women and development, youths, underprivileged children, water improvement,
photography, audio-visual (film documentaries) etc... We are currently making
decisions for the placements of our volunteers for the periods of November 2007
– September 2008.

Cameroon requires
the following documentation prior to any health professional volunteering:
You
must obtain a visa from the Cameroonian consulate/embassy in your country prior
to approval. Apply early.

Cameroon is a bilingual Country of English and French languages
Visas:
Volunteers bear the cost of their own visa. LWDG-Cameroon will assist those
volunteers who need assistance like a letter of invitation. Visas can be
obtained in your home country from the Cameroonian Embassy. You will apply for
your visa depending on how long you will like to stay in Cameroon, and the visa
will be issued with the duration period of your choice.
