SOS Children

SOS Children is the world’s largest orphan charity.  Our children’s charity believes all children should belong to a family which is why we build villages for children in need, help them shape their own futures and share in the development of their communities.

 Boy on swing

Sponsors and donors support our work caring for over 60,000 children currently live in our 450 unique SOS Children’s Villages in 123 countries – we work in both the USA and Canada. A supplement to the foster system in the USA, two villages in Florida and Chicago care for over 150 children. SOS Children’s Villages was active in helping children and families affected by the aftermath of hurricane Katrina in August 2005, especially those families that were evacuated from the devastated areas of New Orleans. In Canada, the SOS Children’s Village British Columbia near Vancouver, supports children at the unique village and in the wider community.

Community support programs run by SOS Children in both the USA and Canada provide: day-care programs, out-patient therapy centre, literacy classes, emergency housing for families with special needs, and low cost housing amongst other. Community programs like these support over one million children and families worldwide which help to keep families together and help prevent child abandonment.

And ensures we are able to help give children a family for life.
